Is My Puppy a Pomeranian?

A small dog looking back at the camera.I recently purchased a sable pomeranian puppy from a pet shop. She is about two months old. Her size and her tail does look like a pomeranian but her coat is very short. Is her appearance normal for a pomeranian puppy at two months? I have added some photos. Thanks

I think you have a sable pomeranian puppy. And sable means the dog has dark-tipped hair. Your puppy does have dark tips.

As for the short coat. Young Pomeranian puppies do have short hair. Your puppy will not have long hairs until her adult coat has grown in. This process is usually complete by the age of 1-year-old.

However, with some, it can be up to the age of 14 months.
Your puppy will going through the period, what is called the "Puppy Uglies" (from 4 months to 12 months). During this time, the puppy coat sheds off and the adult coat grows in. During this time, there are great changes.

If the puppy is purebred, the shop should have given you papers. If they did not, have a DNA test done. If the pedigree is very important to you, and the dog was represented as a purebred Pomeranian and he is not, you are entitled to a refund.

If you purchased the puppy in a pet shop and was told it is a pure breed Pomeranian then the shop owner should have given you registered papers. It does look like a Pomeranian but if you are not satisfied then contact the shop and ask for proof.

Thank you!She is not a registered pomeranian but I was shown her parents and they where 100% pomeranians but unregistered too. I think she is just in her so called " puppy ugly " stage and she will grow into her pom features. But no matter, I still love her:)

The wee dog is still very young. Usually at about 6 months old the second coat comes through. And she is still growing. Some Poms are only small .. They come in 3 sizes , mini, medium & Large..

I had a Pomeranian with short hair. He never got long, puffy hair. I figured there might be some Pomeranians that just have short hair and don't all have long hair. I just checked Google and apparently they all have long with certain exceptions. Being young puppies, having uneven hair, shedding, disease, or not being a pure Pomeranian. I'm guessing my Pomeranian was mixed. Your puppy seems like it just hasn't matured yet.
