Jacket Bled Onto Itself?

I have a burgundy and white jacket that when washed the white areas turned pink. I have tried washing with Oxiclean with no change. Do you know if I use the RIT color remover if the burgundy areas will be affected by the solution or not? I used this product on material a very long time ago, but that shirt was solid color not multicolored. If it will affect the burgundy I will try some of the other solutions suggested on this site.

The color bleed onto the white in your jacket. This is a manufacture defect and shouldn't of happened if you followed the washing instructions carefully. I sure hope it doesn't say dry clean only. If it has washing instructions on the label and you did as it said, then I would contact the company and show them pictures of your jacket. I would ask for a replacement jacket or what they can do to correct this problem.

I did this with a $100 multicoloured dress that had bled on itself on the white parts (turned green), after hand washing it with cold water once. The shop owner basically told me that sucks for you, nothing I can do

I've had blouses I absolutely love have patterns bleed onto the white part turning it pink ect. You can't return a gift you don't know where it's from.

I love the blouses and would really like to save them, I just don't know how?

This jacket seems ruined. I would return it to the store. If it's too late for that, I would contact the manufacturer for a refund or replacement.

You asked if the RIT color remover will affect the burgundy areas?

Here's what the RIT color remover is for:
RIT Color Remover is used primarily to remove or reduce color from fabric prior to dyeing with Rit Dye.

So yes, it will lift the burgundy color.

The type of material will probably determine if anything you try will be successful.

  • You will not be able to use a color remover as that will do just what it says - remove the color (any and all color).
  • There are some products available called "color run remover". These are available at Walmart, Target and similar stores. These can usually be found in the laundry section.
  • Read directions and see if it will work with your material.
  • Here is one listing that you can check out.
