June Bug on Watermelon

Photo Description
My mother and I put a wedge of ripe watermelon outside as an alternative for the hummingbirds to sip juice from. We went outside to tend to the garden and saw this massive June bug feasting on it, rolling around in its juices. The contrasting colours were so cool. It sure was a happy beetle... until our cat had its fun chasing it away. The whole scenario was amusing my dad from behind the garden glass. A fun turn of events!

I saw a June bug a few weeks ago, after not seeing one for over 20 years! This photo brings back good memories of summer family cookouts and trying to catch these beautiful bugs!
