Making a Paper Carnation Wreath

Paper Carnation Wreath - closeup of wreath on the front doorWell, it's still love month so I'll be sharing my Valentine crafts with you throughout whole month of February. Here's one you could still make even after the season to add beauty to your front doors.



  • cardboard
  • 4x4 squares of colored paper for the flowers
  • 1/2x2 pieces of green colored papers
  • zigzag scissors
  • regular scissors
  • glue
  • pencil
  • 1 round pattern 4"
  • 1 bigger round pattern (ex. dinner plate)
  • 1 1" or 1/2" smaller round pattern
  • double sided tape
Paper Carnation Wreath - supplies


  1. Draw a circle onto a piece of 4x4" paper.
  2. Paper Carnation Wreath - trace a circle on a piece of 4x4" paper
  3. Cut by the batch using zigzag scissors.
  4. Paper Carnation Wreath - use zig zag scissor to cut a batch of circles
  5. For every flower we will need 4 of the circles.
  6. Paper Carnation Wreath - each flower requires 4 circles

  7. Fold these circles equally in all directions. See photo.

  9. Now, position the center of the circle on top of a glue lid and crumple. See photo.

  11. Do this to 3 pcs. to create the lower layers.
  12. Paper Carnation Wreath - repeat with the other 3 circles
  13. For the top layer do the same, but use a pencil tip.
  14. Paper Carnation Wreath - for the center crumple the 4th paper circle over the tip of a pencil

  15. Glue the layers in place.

  17. To make the leaf, fold green pieces of paper into a triangle, twice.

  19. Draw a leaf pattern and cut this out. See photo.

  21. Roll the leaf tips backwards with a pencil or any stick.
  22. Paper Carnation Wreath - roll the leaf tips back around a pencil
  23. Glue it onto the bottom of the flower.
  24. Paper Carnation Wreath - glue to the bottom of the flower

  25. Make as many as you want depending on the size of your wreath.
  26. Paper Carnation Wreath - continue making flowers until you have enough to cover your wreath
  27. Draw circles onto the cardboard. The smaller circle should be in the center of the bigger one. Then cut. See attached photo.
  28. Paper Carnation Wreath - draw two circles on your cardboard to create the wreath, cut out
  29. Now, arrange the paper carnations around the circle. Secure with double sided tape.
  30. Paper Carnation Wreath - arrange the flowers around the wreath and secure with double sided tape

  31. Make additional leaves and place in every gap between the flowers if you want. (optional)
  32. Paper Carnation Wreath - add additional leaves to fill the gaps

  33. Hang this on your front door. Pretty!
