Making an Insulated Fabric Food Basket

Supplies

  • 3m cotton fabric
  • polystyrene filling
  • cotton thread for stitching.

Directions:

Bowl:

  1. Cut 2 large circles and stitch on the right side of the fabric a pot size circle in the center leaving space to fill with the polystyrene and pin, then stitch.

  2. Advertisement

  3. Mark and stitch 6 rows from the circle and fill with the polystyrene in each row and pin.

  4. Then stitch, leave 2 cm from the edge and stitch to thread a ribbon to secure the pot.
  5. Edge stitch and neaten.

Top:

  1. Cut two smaller circles and stitch on the wrong side leaving space to fill.

  2. Turnover, fill, pin, stitch, and neaten.

This is good for the holiday season, when packing your lunch for a picnic or day at the beach, when you want to save electricity.
