I have a Nustyle 227 sewing machine. The needle won't pick up thread from bobbin.

Make sure bobbin is secure in it's compartment!
Make sure the bobbin is not in backwards.
There could be one or two problems in this. One the bobbin is not threaded correctly and is in backward. Second, this one happend to me and I had to get it repaired.
