Oak Tree Galls Poisonous to Dogs?

Galls growing on an oak tree.
The galls on oak trees are generally caused by the tree's reaction to wasps laying their eggs on the twigs, branches, and leaves. They inject a hormone that causes the abnormal growth. Sometimes galls can be the result of bacteria or fungi. While generally not considered harmful, there are definitely concerns expressed by pet owners regarding pets eating them.

Yes they are poisonous, both the oak leaves and acorns and galls. They are not always fatal but can cause kidney failure and death from the kidney failure.

Oak leaves that fall in your dogs water dish can be poisonous too.

Everyone has a different take on this, but I keep all things found on the streets and in the woods away from my dog as even if no other dog gets sick from it, he does. Also I worry that someone may have sprayed them with pesticides...which makes me even more nervous! Safety first with my fur child.
