Same thing, just fresher and saves you money! Mix together equal parts cinnamon and nutmeg, and use in place of the cardamom called for in your recipe. You can use 1/4 tsp. cardamom, if you have it!
Total Time: 5 minutes
Source: From my Experiment Lab (Kitchen)
- 1 tsp bay leaves
- 2 1/2 tsp celery salt
- 1 1/2 tsp mustard seed
- 1 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 3/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp cloves
- 1/2 tsp ginger
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp red pepper
- 1/4 tsp mace
- 1/8 tsp cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
- Grind bay leaves to make 1 Tbsp.
- Grind mustard seeds to make 1 1/2 tsp.
- Combine all ingredients in a jar, mix thoroughly.
- Put a tight lid on it!

This is an expensive seasoning and comes in a large tin. Make your own in small batches. It will be cheaper and fresher.
