You may want to switch to an adult diaper for nights and keep the pads for day use. There are many that are more like underwear.... There are re usable, washable ones also, but I don't know much about them and leakage.

Sometimes the name brands of the underwear (assure, depends, prevail) will send a free sample if you call them, so you can find the best fit for her. We are all shaped differently so best to sample until you find the best match for comfort and no leaks.

I would put some sanitary pads ( the sticky kind) for extra protection

Has this recently started for your aunt? Is her doctor aware of the situation?

You can also look into waterproof bed sheets or padding to help prevent having to wash the sheets daily.

Other tips limit your aunts drinking intake prior to bed. Of course use the restroom prior to bed to help reduce bladder leakage.

I know this must be upsetting for everyone but maybe there can be simple solutions. I believe you mean she is using the Always briefs and not just pads?

• I am a senior and I work with a volunteer group that makes visit to housebound seniors and many of them have similar problems.
• Sometimes it is difficult to find a control brief that fits properly (sometimes it is because the persons legs are thin) and we have to try several brands before we find one that will work properly.
• We usually try using a medium pad (a thick one may be uncomfortable) until we find a better solution.
• But no matter what they use, we always recommend using incontinence bed pads just in case there is a mishap as these can be disposable or reusable but so much easier to laundry if necessary. These can be found at all stores and on the internet.

• We have found several ways to find different brands to try without paying full price as it is easy to get a new brand that is no better than the old.

• We always search thrift stores for supplies and make calls to some near by nursing homes as they sometimes have supplies they cannot use (these are usually the supplies that are left behind when someone leaves the home).
• Place wanted ads on Freecycle and Craigslist (do not be embarrassed about this as there are many, many people in this same situation).
• Her doctor can prescribe medication but that may depend on how many medications she is already taking. Worth letting the doctor know.
• Naturally, it is best to always use common sense about not drinking a lot of liquids before bedtime. If your aunt has dry mouth from her medications (making her more thirsty) you might try letting her use sugar-free hard candy or sugar-free cough drops during the time before bed.
