Painting a Stoma Bag

I want to paint my stoma pouch. It is clear like a ziploc bag. I want paint to stick and be able to bend without cracking. I know I have to first clean with 91% isopropyl alcohol. Any ideas?

Having family members who have worn these pouches, my best recommendation for safety is to make or buy colorful (washable) fabric bags and DO NOT put anything on the actual bag (cover but not on).

There is a reason these are clear and it is for your safety if there is an emergency...for one thing, a first responder needs to view the bag contents ASAP if you are unable to speak for yourself.

There are a lot of patterns for the covers on the internet and YouTube and places sell them:

Please be safe and take care!! Prayers for your health!!

My father had to wear one of these bags for quite some time and we wanted to make it look nice and not show what was inside the bag. One time I did decorate his bag and when the nurse came she was very angry with me for this one. She could not see the liquid in the bag. She said it was very dangerous and not to do this one. She changed out the bag and replaced it with a clear bag. The nurse told me the make a fabric pouch with a draw string and put the bag inside this when he went out.

This way people could not see inside the bag. She said it was for his protection to not decorate the bag and only put the bag in a pouch with a draw string so that you could easily check the bag for any issues at all. I would recommend that you don't paint the bag and instead make a few bright colorful bags out of fabric or other material and just put the bag inside of this. That way it is easy to check the bag if there is a problem.

I know why you would like to do this but please reconsider and either make a cover or buy one from off the Internet.
There are lots of sites online with very good instructions but it really takes having a sewing machine and a little experience in sewing to make these. There are videos also.

Etsy has a lot of different styles but if you decide to buy be sure to find out if it fits your style of bag.

I would suggest you go to Michael's or JOANN's (or similar store) and look on their bulletin board to find a sewing class. Talk to the teacher and see if they will help you make a bag cover. Most of these are very nice people and may be able to help you.
My church has a sewing room where we make all sorts of items for overseas ministries so you might also check out some churches in your area. I know our group would stitch you up 2 or 3 while you were waiting.

I know this is important to you so please check out everyone's suggestions and maybe one will work for you.

Painting is not an option - check with your doctor is you have doubts.

I would try fabric paint like Scribbles. Any craft or hobby shop should have a good selection.

Paint will adhere to this but not stay. This flexible plastic bends and shrinks in time, forcing the piece to peel and crack. I'm afraid this type of plastic will not be successful !
