It would be safer to use olive oil or another "food" oil on utensils. Mineral oil is still a petroleum product, even if it says "food grade", isn't it?

Veterinarians recommend it for avoiding hairballs in cats and some manufacturers of cutting board recommend it, so I think it is safe.
