Removing Dye Transfers from Clothing?

I washed a bright red sweatshirt with some of my black clothes. I think one of my pairs of black jeans leaked into the red shirt that now has black/dark stains on it. The shirt has been dry for a few days. Do I have any chance of removing it?

You can try the Rit Color Grabber. If you have put the garment in the dryer, it may be too late.

You can take a white cloth and dampen it with rubbing alcohol,or hair spray.Dab the stain repeatedly with the cloth. The dye should keep transfering back to your clothes.

You can try to soak the item in 1 cup of powdered dishwashing detergent and enough water to cover it over night. After this wash the item alone with 2 Shout Color Catcher sheets in the washing machine.

This should take the color out of the item.

There is a big difference between color grabber and color catcher so be sure to read about the product before you buy one for this purpose.
Color Catcher (several brands) is to be used in the laundry before/during washing to prevent the problem you have and probably will not correct it.

Rit Color Remover (their name for color remover and color grabber) will help with your problem but it is a LOT of trouble to use and Has to be used exactly as directed or all color will be removed and it is not recommended for use with dark colors.

Carbona Color Grabber is the only product that I have found that is easy to use (sheets) and is the product usually recommended to fix the problem you have.
You can find this product online and at some stores.
