Removing Dye that Transferred in the Wash?

Removing Dye that Transferred in the Wash - red streaks on dark shirtI washed a small load of mostly delicate shirts along with a pair of blue jeans in a gentle cycle cold water wash. I did not realize that 1 of the reds would run all over everything. This is what happened to all of the shirts. The only product that I have is OxiClean powder and I am wondering if this would be effective. Thankfully nothing has gone into the dryer. How should I try to fix this?

Color grabber is usually the best solution when colors run in the wash.

  • There are several different brands of this product and these can be found in Walmart/Target type stores or on line at Amazon, etc.
  • Look for these products in your laundry cleaners section.
  • They may have several brands so read the label to find one that matches the material in your shirts and some are for light/white colors only.
  • Choose from brands Shout, Carbona, Ritz, Clorox but read everything on the package.
  • Color grabbers and color catchers are not usually used for the same reasons so read carefully.

Thank you - have already run soaked through twice with OxyClean and no change. 4 shirts and all different materials!
