What kind of wood and laminate was used in making Mersman tables and how can I get the luster back?

Considering these tables are layered wood it would be best to use a paste to restore the shine on the table top. I love to use beeswax which is a thick type of paste. You apply this to the wood and allow it to dry. Afterwards, I use a shoe brush to polish the wood and bring out the shine in the wood.

The core of the top is plywood. There are 5 layers of wood on top of that. There are several types of veneers, including mahogany. You can read more here: www.antiquetrader.com/.../

I would use a good furniture polish such as Guardsman to restore the shine.
