Robin's Thrifty Tips: Weekly Grocery Deals

This week is pay week at our house on Friday and I'm seemingly out of everything! Luckily, there are lots of good deals this week at Fareway, Hy-Vee and Wal-Mart. Here are just a few of the deals that I will be taking advantage of.

Starting at Fareway, which is my favorite grocery store in which to shop, the deals are really good. A few of the ones I can't wait to buy are:

  • Ragu pasta sauces .97/16-26oz. jar
  • Skippy peanut butter is .97/15oz. jar
  • Minute Maid orange juice is $1.99/64oz. carton
  • Kellogg's Mini Wheats cereals (which just happen to be some of my favorites!)are $2.88/box
  • Spaghettio's .98 a can
  • Chicken of the Sea tuna is 10/$6
  • Fastco popcorn is .99 for the 3-count package
  • Old El Paso refried beans are .99
  • Hunt's ketchup is also .99.
  • Generic cat litter is $1.99/25lb. bag

In the produce section, there are some great deals, too. They are as follows:

  • Strawberries $1.48/lb.
  • Golden Delicious apples .88/lb.
  • Cantaloupe are .69/lb.
  • Bartlett pears are .99/lb.
  • Mangoes are .88/lb.
  • Grape tomatoes are 2/$3.00 for the pint size containers

The deals are great at Hy-Vee as well this week. They are as follows:

  • Strawberries at Hy-Vee are an even better deal than Fareway at .97/lb.
  • Ad

  • Hy-Vee brand canned vegetables are 2/.88.
  • Red leaf, green leaf or Romaine lettuce is .99/bunch
  • Whole, ripe watermelons are $4.99 each
  • Kellogg's Special K cereals are 4/$10
  • Betty Crocker cake mixes are .79.
  • Xtra laundry detergent is 5/$10

Wal-Mart actually has an ad this week with some great Mother's Day gift ideas and specials. I don't know if Wal-Mart's ad is the same nationwide or not, but there are quite a few things that are worth checking out for Mother's Day gifts. I would encourage you to go there and check it out! Here are just a handful of items:

  • Boxed Meltaway chocolates are $5
  • Large mixed floral bouquet is $10
  • Pretty ceramic bird house for $8
  • 6 inch Gerbera daisies or 6 mini roses are $7
  • 10 inch basic hanging flower baskets are $9

They also have an large assortment of double feature movie DVD's for $10

That about does it for this week. How are the deals looking on your end?
