You could read the operaters manual if you have one, You could look in the yellow pages for a lawnmower dealer and ask them. You could go on line to the manufacturer of your machine and ask them or call as they usually have a phone number. You go to google and pose a question and get an answer such as this.Main advantage hydrostatic transmission over gear transmission is movement one lever can change speed and direction vehicle. This eliminates need for clutch and gear shift. Transmission speed can be changed without stopping or declutching.

We have a John Deere with a hydostatic transmission and it does not have a clutch. Does your mower have a clutch?
