Saving Money on Printer Ink

Some of us have printer/fax machines that are costly. I know that after purchasing my Canon printer, I began to regret it because I felt that I couldn't afford it. I would like to share the following information for anyone that has a Canon or other type of printer that specifically requires ink tanks, this information might be helpful.

I was getting very disappointed and frustrated when I noticed that my printer/fax machine was using too much ink, and if the ink tank would run low, I would have to replace it to receive a good copy. In order to save on the costs, I then decided to do the following:

  1. Replace the ink tank(s) when the printer stops printing. More than likely, this indicates that you have completely run out of ink and it's time for replacement.
  2. Adjust the print quality of the document by first referring to the "Properties" bar of the printer. This is possible by initially previewing the document, and then indicating that you want to print future copies with "grayscale" intensity.
  3. Before the printer actually begins to print, adjust it to indicate that you want to use a lower ink density. What is the final outcome? You have a good legible copy of your article/document that was printed with less ink.

One might want to then ask themselves if they actually need to have an actual copy of a document, versus saving it to your computer. If you don't want the advertisements on a web page, use the "block" feature on your keyboard and copy/past the information and create a new document (i.e., use Microsoft Word). I have saved money, time, and gas by not purchasing extra ink tanks. I now enjoy having my printer/fax machine because I can afford it.
