Shih Tzu's Not Eating or Drinking?

Concerns:

1. I am a small dog owner too. I don't have a Shih Tzu, but I have several Bichon Fraise.
2. In small dog's if they lose too much weight it is dangerous for them.
3. No matter what the dog needs fluids. If they are given by an IV or by a syringe.
4. If you wait too much longer your dog can die from dehydration.
5. More than likely the dog has a fever from some sort of infection that is causing him not to eat or drink.
6. Getting him to a vet right now will save your dog's life.

7. I would suggest that you find a new vet because the one you have taken him to is not treating him correctly.
8. I am sure a different vet will look at your dog and immediately put it on an IV and administer liquids for the dog.
9. Once the dog feels better, it will start to eat again.

If your dog is not drinking, it is a bigger concern than not eating. Call the vet ASAP

I would say there is definitely something wrong with him, and I would take him to a different vet explaining that the other vet offered a plan that is NOT WORKING. The little guy may have a bowel obstruction etc. But if he gets to the point of being completely dehydrated, he will die.

Dog sick.

Step 1
I would go back to the vets.

Step 2
Also feed her a little corn syrup until you get her to a vet.
