Small Appliance Use Affects TV Reception?

We have a roof top antenna and a converter box for our TV. When I run the blow dryer, in the bathroom, the air popper for popcorn, vacuum, or my blender some channels go out. The other day one channel went out and didn't come back in. When I run non noise making appliances, toaster, griddle, skillet, etc. nothing happens. Huh?

I had that happen in my old house. I was told it had to do with the way the house was wired and the way things drew on the wiring.....The electrician told me either plug in things at different outlets or do some rewiring. Some appliances also put out a frequency when on, and the antenna can pick that up.
