My Kenmore 385 will not switch to other stitches. You can turn the dial and it moves easily, but is not engaging to switch stitches. Can this be repaired?

You might have a broken gear. You will probably have to have the machine serviced
It sounds like the spring in the dial has broken and it is not working correctly. You can check online for the part and replace this part or take it to a repair shop and have it done.
