When I have really small loads of laundry, I like to cut the soap sheets in half. If I have a really dirty bunch of jeans, etc., I like to use one and a half or add a half sheet to my liquid soap.

Wouldn't liquid detergent be much more frugal? I have been doing laundry for over 50 years and tried the most expensive (Tide) to the cheapest (Sun) and found that Purex is by far the best and most economical. Like you, I use less most of the time and add a little more for extra dirty loads. Purex is always on sale somewhere.
