The completed Surprise Candy CakeThis craft is not a cake. I made this one for my son's birthday last December so that I don't have to make loot bags. Indeed I was able to save half of my budget. Anyway, I am sharing this to give you a gift idea for Valentine's Day. It's a DIY surprise candy cake.

Supplies for Surprise Candy Cake

Steps:

  1. If you are making two layers, cut out two big circles and two small ones from your thick cardboard.
  2. Circles of cardboard as the cake base.

  3. Measure your preferred length of each layer. Then cut out 2 long rectangular pieces of cardboard that fits based on the circumference of the circles for both layers.
  4. Placing the first base down.

White paper to wrap around the base.

  5. Wrap this around the circle and glue them in place. Put something hard or heavy inside the box to make it stable. Or you can either put more candies or anything you like to surprise your partner.
  6. Making a cylinder with the white paper.

Placing a bag of toys in the bottom.

  10. If you wish to make a pullout message, then try cutting a rectangular hole on its top cover.
  11. cutting a slot in the middle of a circle.

  12. Insert the first pack through the hole theb arrange your message properly and test if it rolls up perfectly before gluing it. As you can see I placed chocolates and paper bills inside since it was used for a birthday. You can insert valentine cards and packed chocolates for valentines.
  13. Placing candy through the slot.

Note

  1. You can just make one layer if you like since it costs much lesser for a single day occasion.
