No matter what I try I can not get rid of the fleas on my dog and I live in the country as well. What can I possibly put on my dog to get rid of the fleas? He has dried up skin from scratching.

Have you asked your vet? I know from when Clarence had them a few years ago, they gave us several options and it was a combination of treatments that finally got them to go away inside and outside.
We had a bunch of things for him--a topical and a pill
We had a bomb for the house and then had to wash everything in hot water
I can't remember what we had to do for the outside...but there was something she told us to do to kill them outside. Then we couldn't take him in the yard for several weeks after the treatment. We had pee and poop pads rigged up for him. It was yucky but it worked!

The best all round insecticide for fleas I believe is 7 Dust. Dawn dish soap works miracles too. These insecticides anymore don't seem to work worth a damn! Is it because the active ingredient is only one part per thousand?!!!
You may need to treat the backyard and the house.
I found with my cats that the Vets have the best flea protection. They have brands that you cant buy at the pet store.
