Using Dawn Dish Soap for Fleas?

I was wondering how much dish detergent and alcohol to mix together to spray my floors, my furniture, my carpets, and so on? Is it possible to use too much?

Also how often can I bath my two cats with the dish soap? I would think that it would dry out the cats' skin. I've had fleas on and off again and I can't get rid of them. I have spent hundreds of dollars at a time and they keep coming back. I'm at my wit's end.

Thank you for your time it is greatly appreciated.

The best way I have ever found to get rid of fleas is with white vinegar. Mix 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water in a spray bottle. You can spray this on the cats and use a flea comb to comb them off. When you do this use a bowl with pure vinegar to rinse off the comb.

You can also use the vinegar and water solution in your home and around your home to control the fleas. I would also suggest getting your cats the flea pill that lasts 3 months and continue giving it to them every 3 months.

I would use a squirt or two in the bath and in the spray bottle. The flea comb is essential to use.

If you have a heavy infestation, I'd see a vet before it gets worse.

Yes you can use too much. If the dish soap remains in the carpet it will attract and hold dirt in. Too much on the cats can dry their skin.

A natural flea repellent is vinegar. It smells for a bit but the fleas hate it!

The only thing that will get rid of fleas is Advantage. You have to see a vet.

Use 1 tsp of dish soap and 1/4 cup of alcohol.

In order to completely get rid of fleas, you MUST end the flea life cycle. The fleas that you see on your pets are just one part of that cycle. These are adult fleas. You must also deal with the eggs, larvae (babies) and pupae ("cocoons"). Adult female fleas can lay thousands of eggs. These eggs end up in cracks and crevices, upholstery, carpets, everywhere. The eggs hatch and the larvae feed on debris in the environment, not on your pet. After a while, they produce a cocoon which is pretty much untouchable by flea products. The BEST way to get rid of them is to vacuum in your home every day. The cocoons hang out for a variable length of time-- up to about 9 months, or as short as 10 days. If you have cocoons/pupae in your house, they'll hatch out into young adult fleas and begin to feed on your pet, keeping the cycle going. Advantage kills larvae and adults, but does nothing for the pupae.

The pupae are HARD to destroy-- you MUST diligently vacuum everything frequently, and keep it up along with faithfully using Advantage or another pet safe flea product. Dawn baths give you a head start before applying other flea products. They aren't the complete answer to controlling fleas. You HAVE to get rid of the pupae as well as the adults, and with no more pupae and no more adults, you will stop the other life stages from happening. No adults means no eggs. No eggs means no larvae, which means no pupae and then no biting adults. You MUST treat your home, you MUST vacuum frequently and carefully and EMPTY the bag or canister into the outside trash, and you MUST treat your yard AND your pets. It can take months to fully resolve a heavy flea infestation, but if you follow all the steps and stick with it, you can knock the little blood sucking biters down. But it will take time and effort!
