Using Older Unopened Hair Color?

I have used hair dye that I had for a couple years to dye my hair before. I didn't have any problems. They always stay closed and mine are also stored under my sink in my bathroom.

It has a shelf life of about a year. I would do a strand test first.

I've used older Splat ones just fine, but do a test in an inconspicuous area first.
