Value of Bamboo Beverage Set?

A collection of bamboo glasses. Are these cups worth anything? I cannot find anything online on these actual cups. I know by the box (Original box) they were delivered to a business that has been out of business for more than 30 years, in my area. It's a 24 piece set.

I'm not sure how accurate all of my thoughts and information really are but, although the box appears to have Anchor Hocking glasses, I believe these may really be another brand.
There are several mysteries about this set and the box.
1.) Box has Ravenscroft, LTD on the label - This is an investment group that did not come into existence until 2005 so it seems this was part of a group that invested in this supply company.

2.) It appears that Consumer & Industrial Products Group was also involved (restructuring companies) at the time this sale was made.
Sounds like a company in trouble but there is actually no company name on the label.
3.) Anchor Hocking appears to only be a 'Logo' on the box and does not mean the product inside is made by Anchor Hocking but that the company does sell Anchor Hocking.
4.) the only 'Bamboo' pattern I can find made by Anchor Hocking is called 'Tahiti Bamboo' and is an entirely different design than yours. Someone else may prove this incorrect and find a similar pattern by AH.
5.) It appears from searching that Libby makes this glass or a very close match.
6.) There may be a mark on the bottom of your glasses that could prove these to be either AH or Libbey.

Here are some examples of AH bamboo glasses:
www.etsy.com/.../green-tumblers-retro-green-bamboo...

The following set of glasses is a second set the seller has had for sale. they sold the first set but it had been posted for sale on eBay for over 2 1/2 years before the first set sold for $15.99.
This is not unusual for high volume sellers to leave items listed for long periods of time.
www.ebay.com/.../293336183410?hash=item444c32f272...

Libbey has a set called Bamboo but it does not appear to be the same design - just very close.

As to value - AH or Libbey or any other 'common' brand glasses appear to be selling (slowly) for about $5 each plus shipping but you would have to adjust the per piece amount lower if you're selling the complete set of 24 pieces.

Hopefully another member will be able to offer better information and it will be no mystery at all.
If no one does offer solid identification you might try sending your pictures to Replacements for help as they have a lot of Anchor Hocking glassware (but not your pattern). They do have a bamboo pattern listed.

Hi cybergrannie, I have another potential piece of the puzzle and an opinion (which I know everyone has one, so it is for what it is worth because I have not done a full deep dive).

I do see a very similar pattern that is a Libbey and has the same name bamboo--here it is on replacements.com www.replacements.com/.../440527

However, I also found this advertisement from 1978 which appears to be a closer match to the glasses from the original poster and it lists Ravenscroft, Libbey and someone else as the makers of the pieces on this page. Now they ad does not specifically call the one in the upper left a Ravenscroft, but it does appear to be a closer match and his package says Ravenscroft--I can't be 100% sure...so it is just more for the review.

So I think there are two very close patterns--one to each company and unless you have the original package or the glass is marked, they may get misidentified because Ravenscroft is not first thought brand like Libbey.

The Anchor Hocking part still has me totally baffled--but again, that could be a warehouse thing. When I worked in retail stuff was drop shipped from all over the place so that could explain that away.

I love this kind of research and love chatting with you! Blessings to you and all on this site this holiday and beyond!!

Ravenscroft is the brand. They sold to places like Newman's and JC Penney's in the 1980s. Penney's in particular frequently listed Ravenscroft products as their "lead magnet" in their kitchen ads.
In 1981 they were selling boxed sets for 11.99 for a 24 piece bar ware set.

I believe this is the same Ravenscroft that still exists and is known for crystal and restaurant glassware.

Perhaps they can explain the Anchor Hocking connection. That is confusing to me also as the only thing I can figure is perhaps these were shipped by a broker and just was part of a the label. Here is Ravenscroft info.

As for value today, there are no comps for this pattern so you can set your price and take a best offer! Other sets sell between $10 and $50 on eBay (sold, not asking).

They have an interesting vibe to them and they may be a must have for someone who wants to do up their 80s hair band bar!

Post back how your sale goes!

Thanks PGHgirl for the Ravencroft info as that helps me with my 'mystery' but I still think the glasses are made by Libbey and may have a mark on the bottom of the glass.
