If you have an actual 1768 set, it may be valuable. However, the 1768 set was reprinted in the '70s and was designed to look like the authentic original. If you open the books and take a look inside, you will find the actual date it was printed. To give you an idea of what the encyclopedias are listed for...here are some prices on ebay:
I dont think this set is actually from 1768. Encyclopedias are not worth much unless they are over 100 years old. You might be better off financially donating it and taking the tax deduction.
1768 is just part of the name so you will need the publication date to be able to find any sort of value.
Note: this eBay listing has 1768 but the actual publication date is 1961.

You will find the publication date on the first 2 or 3 pages.
Check your date on this site to find the Edition number as you should have the publication date and the edition number to be able to do research for a value.

After you have this information you can check out eBay's sold listings to see if a set like yours has sold in the past several months.
You can look on the left side of the eBay pages to see all of the variations need to identify a set like yours as the condition, type of cover has a lot to do with value.

Highly unlikely this set is from 1768. 1768 is when Encyclopedia Britannica was first printed. Look at the first few pages to find the actual publishing date of your set -probably mid 1900's. As a complete set in great condition, you would be lucky to get $1.00 per book, but a complete set in good condition at least 100 years old, is considered antique and commands a much high price to collectors.
I think you have Encyclopedia Britannica 1768 is from 1960s.
