Value of Singer Sewing Machine?

An old fashioned sewing machine.Hello, any idea of value for my 1953 Singer sewing machine AL 484962? My grandmother used it on the regular and it appears to be in good condition. I believe all parts are intact. However, I do not sew and have not used it. Appreciate any responses. Thank you in advance.

Your sewing machine was one of 50,000 made between 1953-1955. Singer made a lot of same-type machines before moving on to another type.
You can see how many machines in each series were produced during the years of production on this site.

Sewing machines in cabinets are not as popular as 'portable' machines due to space requirements and location. Portable machines can be shipped, while cabinets are too expensive to ship and are usually sold as local pick-up only.

Check out eBay's for-sale listings to see what people are asking for similar machines. Your machine does not look like it is in very good condition and you need to be able to say that it is in good working order or untested.

This is a beautiful machine: asking $105

In cabinet: asking $200

These are portable machines: asking $149

Asking prices are just prices a seller would like to receive for their items but 'value' is only after an item is sold.
eBay has listings of similar machines that you can place on 'watch' to see if they sell.

The market in your area, along with the overall condition will determine the value of your machine.
You may have to list it for sale at a higher price (maybe $250) and take offers. If no offers are received after several weeks, then lower the price and wait again.

This is the website I used to learn information on my Singer treadle sewing machine. It's very informative about the Singer your grandmother owned/used.

You will find your specific serial no. and other info when you scroll through the series. Condition of sewing machine alters the price as it considers the condition of decal work, rust, etc. We took my treadle apart and gave it a thorough cleaning. When you clean the exterior use a good oil and no wax or polish. If you need a booklet for a sewing machine, you can find it on this website through its categories. You can also get more information just reading other poster's remarks.
