What Breed Is My Dog?

What Breed Is My Dog?We got Dallas at 6 weeks, 5.5lbs. The shelter says she's an American Bulldog mix. I met the mom, but I have never seen a Bulldog with pointy/straight up ears. She was also on the small side (maybe 45-55lbs). They have no idea of dad's breed. I'm not sure how much I think the Bulldog breeding is correct. She's now 7 weeks and has gained 1lb in the week.

I think it is part American Bulldog which is Kinda like a pit bull but taller normally and slimmer not as built, but it looks like a little bit of Pitt Bull in her too! What a beautiful sweet dog! I have a black and white Pitty named Petey! Walk her every day and you will have less problems raising a puppy. If she starts chewing or being destructive you are not walking her enough and she needs more activity. She is White so watch her over heating in the Sun or even sun burning that cute little nose! God bless and good luck with your beauty! Whats her name?

What an absolutely adorable puppy!

From your description of Mum, I'd say she probably had a little bit of Boxer and American Staffordshire Terrier in her (the stand up pointy ears) - not 'pit bull'. She is wider bodied than most Boxers and Staffies, though, so I strongly suspect she's mostly (but not all) American Bull Dog.

I suspect the slight Staffie (colour mostly) look to her with some characteristics pointing to not only Boxer but the general more 'wide-bodied' look to her is why the shelter deemed her an American Bull Dog mix.

Read up on all three breeds, do a 'Net image search using the three breeds in your search term - the images will come back showing dogs and puppies in all colour combinations and in that lot of thousands of snaps, I believe you'll scroll down on the first page to see at least one looking like yours. No where near as adorable though, that is just an absolutely darling puppy! She looks loaded with personality:)

Start her training now - between the print resources at library and bookshop, the Internet, and most importantly your vet, she's ready to being real training aged 12 weeks. These are highly intelligent dogs who will think they rule the roost if not trained early on to respect you as the head of the house. Gentle but firm, no choke chains (try the Halti system, work a treat!), and consistent no matter how winsome the begging - and these dogs are masters of winsome!

What a gorgeous dog she's going to be at full growth, she's so cute now but will mature into a truly beautiful lady in about three years. Erm, big, too, but I think you already knew that:)

Thank y'all so much !!! We're tempted to do a dog DNA test (HaHaHa) to see if it turns anything different than what we think.
