Many people ask the breed of their dog or what the mixed breed is. This isn't always possible to tell. However, there is a simple way to find out.

Step 1
Make an appointment with your vet.

Step 2
Ask the vet about a DNA test for your dog.

Step 3
The vet can perform this test in his office and tell you the mixed breed of your dog.

Step 4
Before doing the test always ask the price. It could be rather expensive and you might want to pay this price.

Step 5
If the test is expensive you can still do a DNA test at home.

Step 6
Amazon sells a home DNA test online.

Step 7
Purchase the test and do it yourself.

Well, he's adorable whatever the mix. Looks like a happy pup! If you really want to know the mix then only a DNA test will give you that information.

It is very difficult to tell very much from a photo as, in fact, even a face-to-face examination will still only be a guess. A vet can sometimes make a more educated guess but still a guess.
DNA tests are very popular right now so the prices are coming down but the cost is still between $50 - $250. Usually a vet charges more money.

Here is a link that explains all about the DNA tests. www.caninejournal.com/.../

DNA test kits can be purchased from pet stores, on-line (Amazon, eBay, etc), or from your vet. Here is an example of a kit for sale. www.wisdompanel.com/.../

People many times want or need a DNA test because they plan to sell pups but often people are just curious and "would like to know" so fi that is you then a DNA test would be worth the cost.
