We just got a new puppy! He was abandoned on the side of the road, so we have no idea what he is. The vet says he is almost 5 weeks old and possibly a Boxer mix.

This was mint to be ! You arriving and seeing this adorable puppy. He was destine to be yours! He does look to be Boxer only in my book, at this age!
I think there is definitely some boxer in your puppy's bloodline. However, at its young age, it's difficult to tell what breed or breeds your puppy is. There's a lot of physical characteristics that change as a puppy gets older.
I think you should cuddle with him as much as possible right now because I'll bet he's going to grow up quickly!
There will probably be noticeable changes and as you continue his visits to the vet I'm sure the vet will tell you of any other 'breeds' he may see in the changes.

This little guy is very lucky that you have found him and have adopted him. As he grows he will change a lot and then it will be easier to determine what he is mixed with.
