He is a nice looking dog and it is good that you have rescued him. It is difficult to tell his exact breed. If you really want to know do a home DNA test. This will tell you his blood line and what his mix is.

He has some kind of hound in him. A DNA test will tell you the exact bloodline

Just looks like a very happy all American dog with probably a very good mixture of several breeds.
If you would like to know for sure you can get a DNA test kit as these are very popular right now. The DNA test kits cost $50 to 200 dollars (and up) and can be purchased at most pet stores, on-line and from your vet.

If you will be taking your new friend to the vet for shots/vaccinations (especially rabies and parvo protection) you can ask them about their opinion of the breed and the cost of a DNA test.
Here is a link explaining DNA testing and a link to an example of a DNA test kit for sale (these can be purchased from Amazon, eBay and many other sites). There is also a link explaining the shots and vaccinations you new puppy will need.

I don't really see the Pitt in him. I'm thinking he looks more like a Boxer Shepherd mix but I do believe he's 50/50. One of his parents was probably also a mix.
