I saw this snake while walking the dogs the other day. I tried looking it up and couldn't figure it out. Can anyone tell me what kind of snake this is?

I agree with the Cottonmouth. Cottonmouth moccasins are dangerous.
This appears to be a Northern Water snake, a non-venomous snake. Can you say where the picture was taken, what state or province, and how close to water?
