My neighbor leaves up a string with lights around his door and front windows and changes out the bulbs for the season.
Right now, before July 4....it is a red white and blue (he has had that up since Memorial Day and will leave it up--if like last year) through Labor Day. For Easter they were pastels, St. Paddy's day green, Halloween is orange and purple, Thanksgiving is brown and orange, Christmas is multi color etc. You can pick whatever color themes are for your special holidays and celebrations or seasons!
I love walking by his place at night as it is very festive!! It gives the street a nice feel!! Plus, the way he has it, it doesn't block his view (he can still see out the window).
