Make your own puffy paint with the kids, they'll love to watch their paintings magically puff up!
Approximate Time: 15-20 minutes
Then add your food coloring.
You can use paint brushes or cotton swabs to paint onto the cardboard. Make sure you brush the paint on thick so that it will puff up when you're done.
Once you are finished painting place the cardboard picture in the microwave for 5-10 seconds.
To make a batch of puffy paint, simply mix equal parts of shaving cream and Elmer's glue. Add food coloring, a few drops at a time, until you get the desired color. Apply the glue to heavy paper using a sponge brush. Let the painting dry before moving it.

To make dimensional paint, you'll need 1/2 cup salt, 1/2 cup flour, 1/4-1/2 cup water and food coloring. In a small bowl, mix the salt and flour. Start out by adding 1/4 cup water and stir well. Continue to add water, a few drops at a time, until your mixture is the consistency of a thick milkshake. Divide the paint into separate containers depending on how many colors you want to make. Add a few drops of food coloring until you have the color you like.
