Hey, the best pattern is to take the old one that fits good (before cutting it up into rags) and trim off all seams closely and then use the sheet for a pattern - just add enough for the width of each seam. You can trim off the elastic closely and then add the right amount to make the casing to put new elastic into your new sheet.

This works good for making lots of patterns for other items you may want. Hope this helps.
