Homemade Dog Food

Just think, no more worries about recalls on pet food!

  • 3 lbs. minced chicken meat
  • 2 1/2 cups frozen vegetable blend (no garlic or onions), minced
  • Advertisement

  • 4 cups rice
  • 6 1/2 cups water

Place chicken, vegetables, and rice into a large saucepan or Dutch oven. Stir in water until the mixture is smooth. Place over medium-high heat and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.

Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until the rice is tender and all of the liquid has been absorbed, about 25 minutes. Cool completely before serving; store covered in the refrigerator.

Thanks for this recipe! I was wondering if I could use different kinds of meat, as my dog doesn't like chicken! Also, can this be cooked in a slow cooker (crock pot)?

I cooked the chicken, vegetables,a small fruit, brown rice every other day alternating the meat between chicken, hamburger, turkey and any other good left over meat from our meals. I feed them a real good brand of kibbles and their food is ready every day from the crockpot. I have 15 dogs and they all get homemade food at night. they love it. I have 5 English Bulldogs and 9 Pugs as I lost one a few month back. She was 15.

From dealing with a Holistic Veterinarian, there is too much rice in this recipe. Do not use brown rice, for dogs have a difficult time digesting. Use short plain white rice, not Instant Minute Rice.

You also need to add supplements to these homemade dog food recipes, for example; Rx Vitamins(Rx Essentials for dogs high potency multiple vitamins & minerals. Also, true hemp oil,hip +joint for dogs.
