Using Plastic Butter Containers for Leftovers

If you save the empty plastic containers from butter, yogurt, etc, use a permanent marker to put an X or some other mark on the lid so you can tell at a glance what really is butter and what is probably leftovers.

Makes throwing spoiled leftovers away alot easier too......just toss the whole container without any extra cost of buying new....

When I purchase margarine, I buy the one that comes in two small containers, 1/2 lb. in each. They make great containers for leftovers. I just write on the lid what it contains with a black sharpie. Works great.

Like you, when I have leftovers, I put them in a container but I do not write on the lid. Instead I write on a piece of white paper what is in the container and the date and use a piece of scotch tape to hold it on to the lid. This helps me see what I have in the refrigerator so I won't forget to use it.

For paper, I use scrap paper from mail etc. I don't buy paper for making notes.
