Scotchguard For Clothes

I worked with a young teacher who wore Kahki pants a lot and they always seemed so spot free and clean. One day I got the courage to ask her secret. She said that when she bought new clothes she sprayed them with scotchguard before wearing or washing them. She would occasionally refresh the scotchguard after washing. Just passing along someone elses cleaning tip. I read the article about the canvas shoes and it made me think of it.

I do this with my daughter's clothes all the time. She's very prone to getting chocolate and tomato sauce on her expensive clothes. Just remember not to use fabric softener; it reduces the effectiveness of Scotchguard.

Do you have to spray after each time they are washed or does it last for awhile? My grandson gets the tomato sauce from school lunch and choc also and it does not come out. I have had some luck w Rit super stain remover purchased on line but that takes time
