German Chocolate Gooey Cake

A cake with coconut and cream cheese filling on top. Very easy to prepare and carry anywhere. Cut the pieces small like you would chocolate fudge candy, because it is very rich.

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of German Chocolate cake mix
  • 1 - 4 oz stick of margarine or butter
  • 2 eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 - 8 oz. pkg. low fat cream cheese
  • 3 cups confectioner's sugar
  • 7 oz. coconut

Directions:

Spray 9x13 inch pan or dish with PAM. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Melt margarine/butter and mix with 2 eggs and cake mix. This will be thick to press into the bottom of the pan/dish. Be sure to cover bottom of dish.

Mix cream cheese, confectioner's sugar, and egg. Cream together.

Pour over the cake mix and level.

Place into oven and bake 30 to 35 minutes. This will be lightly brown on top.

What do you do with the extra egg and coconut and flavorings? Sounds like she forgot to include some of the directions. Sounds yummy though.

Cream the flavorings with other ingredients on the topping. After creaming all of them, add the coconut and stir until combined, then pour over the cake mixture and bake.

It doesn't say when to put in the coconut.

What cream? Where? Sounds like some step(s) still missing.

Editor's Note: Cream is an old fashioned term for mixing butter and sugar together. In this case it is being used to describe mixing the cream cheese, sugar and egg before adding the other ingredients.

I have reworded it slightly to make it more clear.

What's 1 8 oz stick of butter? A stick is 4 oz. Do you mean 1 stick or 8 oz, which is 2 sticks.

Editor's Note: The recipe has been changed to 4 oz or 1 stick. Thanks!
