Wildlife: Goldfinch

Every year I get sunflowers growing from seeds dropped at the bird feeders. We have one outside the kitchen window every winter. Now the finches are visiting and eating to their hearts content.

I love these little birds. They are so fragile and dainty. I waited and snapped several but this is my favorite. There is a screen in the window so I thought this turned out pretty clear.

We live in PA, and have lots of the goldfinches, my girls call them Steelers birds. Fitting since they are black and gold.

Aren't they beautiful? When they fly they are neon streaks. Magical! I have an oil-seed sunflower pan and a bathtub that attracts them sometimes, not as often as I'd like. They're not very competitive at the feeder or the bath, but that's ok.
