Cleaning a Gotz "Cookie" Baby Doll?

I just purchased a used Gotz "Cookie" Baby Doll. I have heard these soft bodied dolls could be cleaned in the washing machine. Is this true? Has anyone tried this technique? Would appreciate feedback before I try!

Not familar with that particular doll, but I washed my daughter's Cabbage Patch dolls in the washer all the time. I pretreated any stains, wrapped it up in a bath towel, and put into a pillow case that I tied shut with string. Just wash on a gentle cycle in warm or cold water and allow to air dry. They came out nice and clean with no problems.
