Deep Dish Ham and Swiss Pie

Easy to make and a good, hearty meal.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cut-up fully cooked smoked ham
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1/3 cup chopped green onion
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup Bisquick baking mix (or generic variety)
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper

Directions:

Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease pie plate. Sprinkle ham, cheese and onion in plate. Beat remaining ingredients until smooth, 15 seconds in blender on high or 1 minute by hand blender. Pour into plate. Bake until brown and knife inserted in center comes out clean, about 35-40 minutes. Cool 5 minutes.

I love this recipe; used it for years. Add a little Dijon mustard for spice and perhaps use Jarlsberg cheese for more punch.

I was very disappointed with this recipe. I by no means am culinary expert, but this was disgusting and bland. I rather imagine children may like this casserole as it is simplistic. I am glad that I gave this a "test run", before I made it for an upcoming brunch.
