Whereas a birthday celebration might include friends and extended family, as well as a cake and perhaps some special outing, the half birthday could be more personalized. It could be celebrated just with members of the household, enjoying together the celebrant's favorite meal followed by cupcakes.
Every person present could prepare a speech of encouragement for the celebrant, complimenting and praising them on character strengths and achievements. This would likely build self esteem in the celebrant, and contribute to comradery among household members.
