Riding Mower Won't Start

My riding mower's engine just spins. All of the belts are ok. I was using it when a loud pop happened. After that, when I tried to restart it, the motor just spun as if something in the engine broke. Any suggestions?

It sounds like you might have broke the shaft since the blades aren't working but the motor is spinning.. (10/01/2004)

If mower won't start, check your battery posts. I find them a bit cantankerous on these small batteries. Usually the neg. is at fault. Be sure the charge is up. If not don't charge at 10amps, but 2 amps. (03/01/2008)
