Any of the warm colors in the curtain set would go well. You could choose a cold color like turquoise blue, mint green, for added interest or a warm orange. If you choose a dark brown suite, then you could use the other suggested colors for pillows or afghan throws.

I painted my living room brown. It looks weird, but beautiful, I must say. What accessories can I use to make it beautiful and what colour can I combine on the wall with the brown.

So many colour options! Tans and shades of beige, yellows, oranges. White might be too stark and red perhaps too harsh.

Brass and / or copper accessories would look well too, I think. Be sure to post photos when you're done?

We just recently purchase a new living room set which looked beige/taupe in the showroom and once it arrived at the house it looks very gray :( All the tones in my house are very warm and the coolness of the couch looks odd. Hubby won't let me paint the current light beige walls with yellow undertones, are there ways to accent to tone down the coolness of the gray? Thanks!

How about some red pillows?

I just bought a 1980s small cabin and could use some advice on the living room color scheme. There is faux wood paneling on the walls that I am contemplating painting sage green. The sofa is hopefully soon going to be in a shade of brown. There is carpeting that is a mixture of brown and cream. The dilemma is the corner fireplace that is covered in white with some grey faux brick called Zbrick.

Right now it clashes with the paneling and I would like to paint the Zbrick. Any ideas on color for fireplace would be appreciated. And if anyone has other ideas for paint color on paneling other than sage green I am open to suggestions. Thank you!

Google "how to paint zbrick" and you'll find very clear instructions. As for color, you have to decide if you want the fireplace to be the focal point or not. How much strong artwork, doorways and Windows it would compete with. The "how to" site gives you tips on making it look like tile.

I love artwork and strong western patterns, so I'd probably paint it the same color as my walls, but paint or finish the mantle in a wood-type look. Or a fun color. One strong horizontal line can give the impression of width and not distract from whatever patterns or art you choose to use.

We are decorating our living room next year. I have seen a lovely tan leather settee and a creamy beige carpet. Can you suggest a colour to paint my feature wall and also colour for curtains.

The colors you're talking about are pretty neutral. Almost any color could be a feature wall. I favor red, green, blue or even yellow depending on what you like.

As for the curtains, if they are not part of the feature wall, do them in the color of the feature wall

Beige is pretty basic and is a neutral. You can pretty much choose whatever colour you like. Choose the sofa first, and then pick the paint colour to match the sofa. If you are unsure about colours, take a swatch (or one curtain) with you to the store, and hold it against the sofa to see if it goes. For example, if you picked a moss green sofa, you could go with beige slightly lighter for the main walls, maybe a moss green similar to the sofa for a wall opposite the sofa as a feature, and a darker moss green or a darker tan similar in tone to the beige for a second feature, or an adjacent hallway or what have you.

The other consideration is your flooring. If you have hardwood, you also have a fairly easy colour match. If you have carpet, get the sofa to match the carpet. You wouldn't go for a sage green sofa if you had a blue carpet.

I have a living room painted pinkish red, with curtains in a combination of red and brown, my sofa is basically brown adding few cushions in red, and a red rug. I ordered a grass green center table and now am confused. I don't know whether it would look nice or something uneven. What else should I add so the living room gives a different look?

Personally, I think you got too many colors going in the same color wheel. An almost the same is harsh on the eyes, leaving others to think you may be color blind. My husband is and he would have the same thing going as you do.

I pick the colors of my house to bring me to a happy place. So that (affordable) items will set my tone, no matter what kind of day I am having. Meaning, I have basic colors....earthtones, and add to that. Accent with the bolder color of the week if you want. I decorate so it is a 30 year thing in color change and I love it.

I have a dark brown recliner and a granite (gray) loveseat. Thought a multi colored browns and gray throw would tie them togather. What would do you think and any suggestion on where to find a inexpensive throw?

I need some ideas for colours for wallpaper and carpet for my living room. The room is 4m x 2m, with a bay window that is north facing. The ceiling, which is low, is painted white. The items of furniture I have are a black leather sofa and some beech coloured hi fi units.

Any ideas?
Thanks.
