French Toast with Apples


  • sliced French bread
  • 8 eggs
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3-4 apples, sliced
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg (opt.)
  • Ad
  • butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar


Place sliced bread in pan, 9x13 inches. Beat together eggs, milk, vanilla, and 1/2 cup sugar. Pour 1/2 mixture over bread. Slice apples on top of bread. Pour rest of egg mixture over apples. Mix second 1/2 cup sugar with cinnamon and nutmeg. Pour on top. Dot with butter. Bake at 400 degree F for 35 minutes. May be prepared night before; refrigerate and then bake for 50 minutes. Serve warm with syrup.
