Best-Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

Mix together flour, baking soda, and cinnamon. Beat together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar at medium speed until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. At low speed, beat in flour mixture until blended. Fold in oats and chocolate chips. Cover with plastic wrap; chill for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 2 baking sheets. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Place cookies, 2 inches apart, on prepared baking sheets. Flatten each cookie slightly. Bake cookies until lightly browned around edges, 10-12 minutes. Transfer baking sheets to wire racks to cool slightly. Transfer cookies to racks to cool completely.

Mom's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Author's mother removing baked goods from the oven.Mom has always made these and many other cookies at Christmas for us over the past years. At 86, she still makes them and always has a goodie bag made for us all every year. These cookies are moist and crunchy at the same time. This recipe makes loads.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 8 oz. chocolate chips
  • 8 oz. walnuts
  • 4 3/4 cups flour

Directions:

Mix all together well, roll into 1 inch balls, and place on cookie sheet. Flatten with a lightly floured fork and bake in a 400 degree F oven for approximately 10 minutes or until browned.

Servings: 12 Dozen
Prep Time: 10 -15 Minutes
Cooking Time: 10 - 12 Minutes
