2 ponds ground beef 1 medium onion chopped Lg jar Prego (3 lb) (or whatever you prefer) 8 oz tomato sauce 16 oz crushed tomatoes approx 1/3 prego jar water 1 teaspoon sugar Garlic Powder, Pepper, Salt to taste lg tub Cottage Cheese (sm or large curd doesn't matter) lg pack (16oz) shredded mozzarella cheese box lasagna noodles--uncooked
Brown ground beef with chopped onions. Season with season salt, pepper, garlic powder (can use fresh garlic if you prefer) to taste. Drain fat. Add jar sauce, tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, approx 1/3 jar water and sugar (I also add Italian seasoning). Simmer approx 10 minutes.
While beef mix is simmering, combine lg tub cottage cheese and mozzarella. (I sometimes throw in some parsley to make it look pretty!) Put enough of the sauce on bottom of crockpot to cover. Layer noodles (I usually break them in half so they fit better in cp!). Approx 3-1/2 noodles per layer. Doesn't matter which direction you lay them! On top of noodles, layer ground beef, sauce mixture then cheeses. Repeat layers to fill crock pot. Make sure you leave enough sauce to put on last layer of noodles. Then top with last of cheese mixture.
Cook approx 6 hours on low. If you like you can add cheese on top last half hour of cooking. Do not stir! Serve with Parmesan cheese, salad and garlic bread.
In a large skillet over medium heat cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until brown.Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, salt, and oregano and stir until well incorporated.Cook until heated through. In a large bowl mix together the cottage cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, and shredded mozzarella cheese.Spoon a layer of the meat mixture onto the bottom of the slow cooker.Add a double layer of the uncooked lasagna noodles.Break to fit noodles into slow cooker.Top noodles with a portion of the cheese mixture.Repeat the layering of sauce, noodles, and cheese until all the ingredients are used.Cover and cook on low heat in slow cooker for 6 to 8 hours.Makes 10 serving
