I also use toothpicks and q-tips for small cracks. Rubbing alcohol is good to clean small appliances.

Have you tried the mister clean magic eraser????works wonders in crevices on my textured refridgerator... i was amazed
Use Old Toothbrushes for Cleaning
You can use an old toothbrush to clean tiny spaces between buttons on small appliances like hand mixers, blenders, coffee makers, etc.
